In Pursuit of Truth, Goodness and Beauty may we lift our hearts up to Him

“Thought breeds thought; children familiar with great thoughts take as naturally to thinking for themselves as the well-nourished body takes to growing; and we must bear in mind that growth, physical, intellectual, moral, spiritual, is the sole end of education.”

Charlotte Mason

Form III Student Experience

As a Form III student continues to develop and grow, so does the sophistication of thoughts. As their guide, philosopher and friend we will continue to feed the mind a generous feast. The breadth and depth of studies will continue to increase as the mind is able to acquire more.

Form III students are beginning to transition to work more independently and take ownership of their education. They will continue to develop the cornerstone skills they have been learning: narration, soaking in and digesting living books, notebook keeping and entering into the grand conversation.

Written narrations will continue to be developed as the Form III student becomes more fluent and is able to process their oral narration with greater ease into a written narration. They will begin to take on their own “style” of writing and composition will be a new layer to their writing.

Mason warns, ‘we must safeguard the student’s writing, and we must not give set “composition lessons” that have the potential to stifle and handicap this emergent voice.’ Instead, we want to grant the student space to develop fluency by providing more time to write and providing questions that ask him to think and write in purposeful and applicable ways. Do not rush this process, but let the student develop this skill with encouragement, time and space.
